The Emerald Lakes Tennis Centre coaches are fully qualified and recognised by ATPCA (Australian Tennis Professional Coaches Association), with a good mix of maturity and experience.
Emerald Lakes Tennis Centre is proud to have been selected in 2010 by Julio El-Aki, Managing Director of the ATPCA, as a Queensland Training Centre for Coaches. We are also very privileged to have Alan Gourley join us this year. Alan is involved with the ATPCA Level 1 and II Accreditation Courses operating out of Emerald Lakes Tennis Centre and also assists with our Squad Training programme and acts as a mentor to our trainee coaches.

Peter Miller Managing Director/Coach

Peter joined the Emerald Lakes Tennis Centre as a contract coach in 2000. He was appointed Manager of the Centre for Nifsan Pty Ltd in 2004 and took over the lease of the Centre in March 2009. He has forty years experience in playing, coaching and administering the sport of Tennis, both on the Gold Coast and in New South Wales, and is an advanced qualified Tennis Coach (Level 2 ATPCA). Peter was the proud recipient of the Gold Coast Tennis Coach of the Year in 2003. Peter’s love and specialty is grass roots coaching, and he has also been instrumental in the design and implementation of tennis programmes for the Special Olympics. He was the Head Coach of the Queensland Special Olympics team for the National Games held in Sydney 2002 and organised and ran the tournaments for the National Games held on the Gold Coast in 2006. His selection to train and manage the Ball Kids at the Australian Women’s Hard Court Championships (WTA Tour) held at Royal Pines in 1999 saw him in this position through to 2004. |

Alan Gourley Coach

Alan began coaching in Vancouver, B.C. Canada in 1965 as assistant coach at Capilano Winter Club. He then moved on to become Head Coach at Jericho Tennis Club and finally the Head Professional and Director of Lions Gate Racquets Club, a large indoor tennis, squash and racquetball facility. For the Canadian professional Squash Association he was the touring Pro for Western Canada which included Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Albert and British Columbia and introduced the international game (soft ball) to Western Canada. He conducted the first squash camps in Canada with Jonah Barrington (6 times world Number 1) and Sharif Khan (11 times North American Number 1) at Lions Gate Club. Duties at the Lion’s Gate Club involved writing the tennis programmes for two major clubs (one in Vancouver and one in Edmonton, Alberta), operating a pro shop, tournament chairman for a national junior tournament (25 countries represented and the event televised), reporting to club owners on occupancy rates, financial operations of the club, membership drives, TV and radio publicity, on court coaching, conducting social events, and organising competitive teams. Alan returned to Australia in 1979 and was selected as one of five lecturers and examiners for the T.C.A. Level 1 and II Coaching Accreditation Courses. In Queensland he assisted in writing the teaching manuals for these courses. During his career on the Gold Coast Alan has assisted in training sessions with Wally Masur, Mark Philippoussis and Helena Sukova and several junior students have gained US college tennis scholarships. Currently, Alan is involved with ATPCA Level 1 and II Accreditation Courses operating out of Emerald Lakes Tennis Centre. Alan continues to coach young tournament players. He is pleased to offer advice and help to people who wish to attain coaching qualifications and make coaching a career choice. |

Glen Bowe Coach
|
Glen, an advanced Tennis Coach (Level 2 ATPCA) and Tennis Australia Club Professional, has been coaching for over 10 years. He also qualified as a Fitness Professional with Fitness Australia in 2009. Glen provides a fun and challenging learning environment that has developed both children and adults to achieve their goals. Glen uses his wide range of sporting achievements, including being a member of the original national McDonald Tennis Squad and, more recently, a multiple Ironman Australia Triathlon Finisher to design specific goal setting training and fitness programs with nutritional advice. Glen develops qualified holistic programs designed for the individual to achieve their goals. |

Dianne Evers Coach |
After living and coaching in the USA for over 20 years, Dianne has recently returned to Australia. A former
world touring professional player on the Women's Tour, Dianne has numerous titles to her name in singles and
doubles, including Australian Junior Champion, and in her professional playing career competing in all major
tournaments with title wins in Swiss, Austrian and Canadian doubles with the highlight of her career winning the
Australian Open Doubles in 1979.
Dianne has over 30 years' coaching experience. She enjoys working with both adults and juniors of all levels. She has been very successful in coaching teams starting at the grass roots level, working with them all the way to national championships. She is well known for her Dianneisms, at the top of the list is PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), and TEAM (Together Everybody Achieves More). |

Matthew Finnigan Junior Coach

Matt has been playing tennis at Emerald Lakes Tennis for the past 6 years and became a qualified Graduate Level 1 Tennis Coach with ATPCA 2 years ago. During this time Matt has entered a number of tournaments and for the past 3 years has been a member of the Trinity Lutheran College Open A tennis squad.
Matt works well with young students and has a natural rapport with them. He is mentored by our advanced coaches and assists with lessons both after-school and during holiday tennis clinics. Matt’s patience and fun loving nature create a happy environment on court which embody ELTC’s slogan of Learn it ... Play it ... Love it! |
